RegEC8 checks the EN 1998-1 (Eurocode 8) criteria for regularity in plan of reinforced concrete buildings subjected to earthquakes starting from a DXF drawing produced in AutoCAD or similar programs.  

The REGEC8 web app ("the App") is provided “as is” and is used entirely at the user’s own risk. It is designed as an educational and preliminary assessment tool to assist users in evaluating the regularity in plan of building layouts under Eurocode 8 (EN 1998-1). 

Important Information 

• The static eccentricities are calculated based on a simplified analysis using translational stiffness represented by the moments of inertia. This method may not be applicable to multi-storey buildings or buildings with mixed earthquake resisting systems (see Section 4.2.3.2 of EN 1998-1:2004).
• The user must carefully draw the floor outline as a single, non self-intersecting, closed polyline with straight segments (no arcs). Openings cannot be explicitly considered. The user is responsible for making informed and rational choices while preparing the floor outline.
• The user must carefully draw the walls and/or columns as non self-intersecting closed polylines without arcs. It is up to the user to decide which walls or columns should be included or excluded from the analysis.
